Robert Shrum: Palin is "Miss September"

But won't be "Miss November":
However much the Republican base hoots and whistles, Palin may not become their Miss November; she’s been a runner-up before.
Ugh. Can we leave the centerfold analogies out of it? Note: Shrum is former advisor to Al Gore

Palin stands a good chance of being the President at some point, so its silly to complain that she is being treated roughly. As the President, she will have nuclear weapons aimed at her head, be the target of assassins, be constantly smeared by political enemies, ruthlessly and endlessly mocked by comedians and the general public etc. etc., just like any other President. People aren't going to hold back or play nice just because she's a woman.

Ugh, Bob Shrum. Shudder.

Shrum has, I believe, the distinction of having worked on seven presidential campaigns none of which has actually won the presidency.

It does not seem to me that anybody is complaining that Palin is being treated "roughly". (I'll state now, though, that neither Obama nor Biden - and especially Biden - have been treated as "roughly" as she has been.) The complaint is that she is being treated unfairly because she is (1) a woman and (2) a conservative.

Imagine the howls of outrage if the right were saying such things about a Democrat woman.....

I'm not so much a Republican as I am anti-leftist.
