There are endless stories in the media right now about whether Sarah Palin was properly vetted. Why the hysteria? Implicit in this media narrative is the assumption that, if McCain had just vetted Palin more carefully, she wouldn't be on the ticket. Otherwise, why raise the topic in this manner at all?
Was Biden vetted?
As far as I can tell, everything that's come out on Palin so far should not be disqualifying (and is less serious than Biden's plagiarism and past racial comments). Furthermore, McCain himself seems to have released most of the Palin information to the news media, including about the husband's drunk driving arrest from several decades ago. So, I guess she must have been vetted. The media simply have no evidence to justify the vetting hysteria. Even the big topic of media discussion - Bristol's pregnancy - was disclosed by the McCain camp first, so how could it be an example of weak vetting?

Biden was vetted? I assumed that they had skipped that because he "is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy"
Seems to me that Gov. Palin was better vetted than Obama himself. She is the "everywoman". Clearly, she is in touch with the life of average Americans. The fact that she is like us (you've heard of us, we "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like [us]"). She went after the corruption that disgusts average Americans.
Obama is just an elitist who is a part of that corrupt political machine. Too bad they skipped the vetting on him.
Ron Kuby, on Air America radio, yesterday, Tuesday, Sept. 2 referred to Sarah Palin and her family as "white trash". And he laughed...
The media and democrats are terrified of her. If they weren't, they wouldn't give a crap. She's genuine, earned everything on her own, and relates more to the average American than anyone they could possibly put up. She IS an average American.
