Fair question

Washington Post:
What if, back in the 1990s, Clinton had announced the pregnancy of an unmarried, teenaged daughter? Would the Republicans have declared it an off-limits family matter and declined to judge her, or would it have turned into a national scandal that hurt her chances as she decided to pursue her own career in elected office?
But I doubt the left would have turned on her.

Maybe the Washpo could ask this question too (or is the newspaper only interested in hypothetical hypocrisy from one side?):
What if, back in the 1990s, Clinton had announced the pregnancy of an unmarried, teenaged daughter? Would the liberal feminists and media have declared it a fair game family matter and rushed to judge her, turning it into a national scandal that hurt her chances as she decided to pursue her own career in elected office?
What matters most to me is the position that people are staking out now rather than past hypotheticals that didn't happen. This shouldn't be a national scandal. It's not relevant to Palin's ability to lead.

Even if you believe there's hypocrisy on both sides relating to past stances, that doesn't justify the current attacks on Palin.
